My first go at tagging myself from another blog – in this case at casa az

One book that changed your life

  • Have Spacesuit – Will Travel by Robert Heinlein.  The first Sci-Fi book I read.

One book that you’ve read more than once

  • The New Centurions by Joseph Wambaugh. I could have picked so many books here – I keep and re-read most books – if they’re any good.

One book you’d want on a desert island

  • The Complete Sherlock Holmes.  I can read this over and over again – and it’s big enough to provide plenty of reading material

One book that made you laugh

  • Captain Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres.  I first read this while in hospital and had to keep putting it down when I was reading at 5 AM, so that my laughter didn’t wake other patients up.

One book that made you cry

  • The House at Pooh Corner by A. A. Milne.  I could have picked so many (probably a lot less corny ones too) but I still get a lump in my throat as Christopher Robin is explaining to Pooh that he won’t be around so much and won’t do nothing “because they won’t let you”.

One book that you wish had been written

  • Any additional James Bond book by Ian Fleming

One book that you wish had never been written

  • Any book ”of the film” that looks like the original, but isn’t.  They did this with a lot of the Bond books (see above).

 Two books you’re currently reading

  • The Songlines by Bruce Chatwin
  • Travels with my Aunt by Graham Greene

One book you’ve been meaning to read

  • The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco.

I should give Sherlock Holmes another go. I read The Complete when I was about 15 and loved it.

Ooooh, you’re gonna love The Name of the Rose!

Oh, and this is for you…
